SEJARAH
The idea by Drs.Warsito, SU, who at that time served as the Dean of
the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) became the
initiator of the International Relations (HI) study program in
mid-August 2010. Given the expanding diplomatic relations between
Indonesia and other countries in the five continents that were not only
on political, military, economic, and cultural relations but also on
other aspects.
The expansion of diplomatic relations, of course, had a big
influence, it was natural, and could not be avoided, not to mention for
Indonesia. Many universities with the International Relations program
had provided large contributions to the country, but they had not yet
been optimal. Therefore, Drs.Warsito, SU, believed that the
International Relations program was expected to be able to give the
contribution to the Indonesian government in establishing the
relationships with other countries. So that, it could continue to be
well-established, continue to develop and minimize any negative
possibilities.
To reach this goal, any support by other study programs in FISIP was
needed. Such as, the Governance Sciences, Business Administration,
Public Administration or other faculties that had been long established
under the auspices of the Universitas Diponegoro. Namely, the Faculty of
Law, the Faculty of Humanities could be invited to participate in
developing the new study program. As well as, other relevant agencies,
both domestic and foreign agencies. So that, the International Relations
study program FISIP Universitas Diponegoro would be able to utilize and
develop various potentials which were scattered in various
environments. The International Relations Study Program FISIP
Universitas Diponegoro had concentrations on international cooperation
in handling international/transnational crimes. Those concentrations
were chosen since the study program want to give contributions to the
Indonesian government or other parties regarding how to handle various
crimes which occurred as the consequence of the intensive relation among
countries nowadays.
After the idea of establishing an International Relations study
program got support from related parties within Undip, an official
proposal for its establishment was compiled. For that purpose, the
written support from the parties outside Undip was needed regarding the
need for the establishment of the study program. Another thing that was
needed was to collect a letter stating the willingness of the lecturers
to teach in the International Relations study program and make other
technical preparations. However, after completing the drafting and
obtaining approval from the Senate and the Rector of Universitas
Diponegoro, the proposal was cancelled to be sent to the Directorate
General of Higher Education of the Ministry of National Education due to
a new regulation stating that the submission of the proposals for the
establishment of new study programs was carried out online and there
were new provisions.
In accordance with the instructions from the Directorate General of
Higher Education, the 1, 2 and 3 Forms were filled in completely. After
obtaining the registration number, it was followed by the next steps.
After the 4 and 5 forms obtained approval, the Indonesian Government cq
the Directorate General of Higher Education with the letter number 809 /
E / T / 2011 dated on June 13th, 2011 gave a mandate to Universitas
Diponegoro to open an International Relations Study Program
(undergraduate program) at FISIP – UNDIP.
After the Rector of Universitas Diponegoro sent a letter to the
Directorate General of Higher Education regarding his willingness to
directly lead the implementation of the mandate and began to take
the administrative and academic preparatory steps, in August
2011, Universitas Diponegoro opened the registration for new student
candidates through the Independent Exam (UM). There were 1100
registrants, but only 120 people were accepted.
On December 7th, 2011, The Decree of the Minister of National
Education of the Republic of Indonesia Number 285 / E / O / 2011
concerning the license to organize the International Relations Study
Program at FISIP, Universitas Diponegoro was issued.
